ING Direct TSFA account

Decades ago, ING Direct use to provide the highest interest rate for all accounts. Now, given so much competition, there are much better interest rates elsewhere.

ING Direct account transaction is also not as efficient as other businesses. You cannot make transfer of less than a dollar. If you request to make a transfer immediately, it will occur the day after. If you transfer money in, it will be on hold for 5 business days, even if you are transferring from your own authorized bank account.

The Source

Similar to Future Shop in price, but does not have the same selection. I do not see how these smaller, just as expensive stores can compete. My prediction is that this store will go bankrupt or be bought out.

Canadian Tire TSFA Account

Although the interest rate is not as high as People's Trust, they more efficient than People's Trust. You can transfer money in and out immediately without needing to call a support line.

Food Basics

Cheap, but not as cheap as No Frills. Food Basics accepts VISA and Mastercard. No Frills does not accept VISA, only Mastercard

Wal-Mart

Easy returns, low prices. Good for many general items.

No Frills is still cheaper for groceries.

Don't buy their electronics. Their unheard of brand name are too large to carry back for returns.

Dollarama

Great value for its products. No returns, but they are only less then $3. Good for simple household items, batteries, or gadgets. Dollarama does not accept credit cards. They do accept Debit cards.

Don't buy drinks or food as Dollarama. No Frills is cheaper.

No Frills

Probably the lowest priced grocery store. Cheaper than Wal-Mart. But the quality of the produce is also below grade. No Frills does not accept VISA.

No Frills also has a dollar section, but in terms of quality for price, Dollarama much better

MBNA Smart Cash Back

2% on groceries and gas. 1% everything else. No Annual fee. Don't think there is another card that provides more cash back with no annual fee than this one.

Personally, I don't like their advertisement claiming it is 5% cash back. Their 5% cask back is only for the first 6 months and their ads makes it deceptively look like it is forever.

Shoppers Drug Mart

This store stays in business with sales gimmicks. Generally people shop here for convenience as it does not have the same line up as Wal-mart.

They are way more expensive than Wal-mart and not as easy to return.

I personally think Shoppers will go out out business. They are just too expensive. They're pharmacy section is also overpriced.
